New Horizons with Ferrari Hypersail

At an exclusive press event, Ferrari Executive Chairman John Elkann and the Hypersail crew, including Team Principal Giovanni Soldini, Chief Technology Officer Matteo Lanzavecchia, and Team Leader Marco Ribigini, unveiled the futuristic yacht project. Hypersail is an endurance racing project that will open the world of ocean racing to the Prancing Horse.

When asked why, Elkanns naturally has a concrete answer, as he shared with Ferrari Magazine:

"Because we simply had to do it. Because what drives Ferrari? It's about passion and competence in the service of the impossible."

According to Elkann, Ferrari's racing identity will be strengthened as the company will be able to explore a different kind of endurance racing. They are embarking on an exciting journey that will open up unimagined horizons for Ferrari's racing soul. With this new sporting challenge, Ferrari will push beyond current boundaries, motivated by its own innovative strength and commitment to sustainability.

The approximately 100-foot-long yacht will foil emissions-free, powered by wind and solar power. Compared to existing "full foiling" sailing yachts, Hypersail will push the boundaries of energy autonomy, performance, and innovation. Visually, Elkann says Hypersail will resemble a spaceship rather than a boat. It will accommodate eight people on board.

Hypersail is being developed entirely in-house. Approximately 90 percent of all components of the prototype were manufactured at the same factory in Maranello where current Ferrari models, such as the Daytona SP3, Purosangue, and Ferrari F80, are built.
