On October 1, 1993, Maranello Motors opened its doors on Industriestraße in Cologne-Rodenkirchen. What was it like back then?
Like Klaus Kordt later, I came to Maranello Motors from Auto Becker. I can still remember the building very well, which was very modern for its time. However, the facility in Rodenkirchen was significantly smaller than it is today. The showroom area was just 350 square meters and could accommodate six to seven cars. The workshop had roughly the same size and was equipped with just three lifts.
In 2008, Maranello Motors moved from Rodenkirchen to Cologne. How did you perceive this change?
It felt like David versus Goliath. I couldn't imagine successfully managing that area. And today? We're even building an additional workshop to meet demand.
That sounds like a big change. What has changed the most in your opinion?
So much has changed, and it's nothing like today. But one thing has remained the same: the family atmosphere within the team. Back then, the team was only a fraction of what it is today: We were three mechanics and one salesperson. Of course, it's not just the processes that are different today. The vehicles and the range of technologies have also changed a lot over the years. And so have we. It's been an incredible journey. And I'm excited to see where it leads.
